Domestic Violence for the Public Safety Dispatcher
Learning Goal: The goal of this course is to enhance the abilities of the Public Safety Dispatcher in their response to Domestic Violence calls. The course will provide students with information on the laws that pertain to Domestic Violence cases. Course material covers victim affect, Power and Control issues,  call taking skills, evidence preservation, the important role the 911 tape plays in prosecution, stress related issues and dealing with children reporting Domestic Violence.

Brief Description: This course give dispatchers the information they need so they can enhance their skills in regards to taking Domestic Violence Calls. Dispatchers take Domestic Violence related calls most every day, they can make a difference.  This course gives them the information they need to do this.

Target Student Audience: Dispatch Personnel – Call Takers, Dispatchers, Supervisors, and Managers.

Class Length: 8 hours 

Tuition: Depends on location.  $75 - $95 per student. 

Certification: California Agencies: A similar course is offered tuition free by San Diego Regional Training Center for California Agencies.  Visit their website at
