Instructor Development Course

Learning Goal:  This course will provide the trainee with the minimum topics of instructor development required to teach at the POST Basic Academy, in-service training or other courses.   It will Identify the various roles of an instructor; and recognize the qualities and importance of being an ethical instructor.  This course  will differentiate between child and adult learning;  the student will understand how the work environment can impact learning; identify their learning style; and understand how to teach to various learning styles.   The student will identify various styles of lesson plans; and create a lesson plan for the class presentation.  The student will identify various types of presentations.  They will understand which type of presentation is best for given situations and identify methods for preparing a presentation.   The student will develop and present an appropriate PowerPoint presentation.  They will be able to identify various resources and training aids; and understand how to correctly use resources and aids.  

 

 

 

 

 

Brief Description:  This course provides the student the information they need to become a classroom instructor and enhance their skills as a training presenter, whether they are presenting to a group or one on one. 

 

 

 

 

 

Target Student Audience:     Dispatch Personnel – however anyone who wants to teach will benefit from this course. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Class Length:   24 or 32 hours (host agency choice) 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Tuition:    Depends on the length of the class, location and number of students.  We are committed to keeping costs low.  We evaluate each course presentation and come up with the lowest possible tuition. Typically our costs are $75 to $95 per 8 hour day.
